Wood packaging and framing construction using wood plays a key role in contributing to healthy markets, healthy forests and healthy communities. Wood is naturally renewable, sustainable, strong, durable, reusable and recyclable. Currently, we’re planting more than five trees for every man, woman and child in the United States. It’s a good story and we’re proud that our businesses all use wood as the main component in operations.
JFR Holdings combines a diverse number of family-owned and operated entities within the Industrial Products and Construction Products/Services industries. The first, J.F. Rohrbaugh, was started in 1880 and remains operational to this day. Currently, it’s the oldest “family-run” business in the Hanover community. JFR Holdings was created in 2015 when West Side Wood Products was purchased. In 2017, Bruce Jones Contractor and Jones Building Supply (now JFR Construction) were added to JFR Holdings, creating an entity that is recognized as best in its class in Industrial and Construction products and services.
John Forry Rohrbaugh, born in 1858, begins contracting and selling building supplies, founding what would become J.F. Rohrbaugh & Co.
Rohrbaugh builds a facility on Penn Street in Hanover, which serves as the company’s headquarters until 1965.
J.F. Rohrbaugh Co. grows to one of Hanover’s largest contractors, specializing in millwork, doors, frames, and other carpentry products.
John Forry Rohrbaugh passes away, and his son, John Walter (“Walter”), assumes leadership of the company.
Mary, Walter’s wife and mother to their five children, passes away.
Walter marries Edith Hoke, and the company continues to thrive under his leadership, also supported by his role as Farmers Bank president.
A major client loss prompts Steve to streamline production, emphasizing quality and efficiency.
JFR Holdings consolidates operations into a new facility in New Oxford, PA. Growth and challenge are still what propel JFR Holdings ahead, never forgetting its basic tenets that have served it well into its fourth generation: quality, sustainability, and exceptional service.
